Iain Hosie’s passion has always been with science and technology. The realisation came to him when he was in policy which is a deliberate system of principles to guide decisions and achieve rational outcomes. Iain is always actively looking to make a difference and improving the world through various means, that was his big goal. However, things in policy were slow and obstructed and caused frustration in that “big ideas that were brought up would be watered down.” There was an obvious suppression of ideas where he was and he realised that it wasn’t for him and that he did not enjoy doing that. Therefore, he sought an exit from that space. Part of realising what your passion is is to try multiple things and see what makes you genuinely happy to be doing and it doesn’t feel like a chore to you. Being still very interested in science, he decided to continue to pursue it. The first step in building your own story is knowing when to move on.
”It was kind of a Serendipity.”
Iain Hosie had branded himself as being mainly focused on Science and Technology to develop new products that utilise cutting-edge technology to benefit the world. This can be seen with ActivLayr, a sub-brand of his business, Revolution Fibres, that taps into the commercial beauty market emphasising on natural collagen for the modern woman. No matter where he branched out to, Science and Technology were where his passion ultimately lay. However, when his business, Revolution Fibres based in New Zealand, took off, he decided to step up and assume the role of a CEO. This major step forward and this role enabled him to talk to multiple people, realise what the market wants and find ways to better his business. The more he engaged in this venture, the more it became something that he loved doing as well, and he has been doing that ever since.
Passion isn’t a one-time thing, you find it in the little things that you do.
